The 16th Annual Showgirl Art Competition
The 2023 Showgirl Art Presentation at the Las Vegas Academy Of the Arts March 31.
Artwork was submitted to the Showgirl Art Competition, and the winning artists artwork was on display at the West Sahara Library Art Gallery in the exhibit “Showgirls! The Legacy of Glitz & Glam” September through December, and at Blick Art Materials.
The presentation gave the students a unique opportunity to work with classic, authentic showgirls, in costumes courtesy of Maria Battaglia with Always Entertaining! and the Karen Burns Hello Hollywood Hello costume collection.
Cash prize categories were 1st: $300. Best in Show: $250. 2nd: $200. 3rd: $100. 4th: $75. Six special mentions: $50.

The links of interest page directs artists to websites with photo collections and costume sketches that document the showgirl and the stage show spectaculars, the Showgirl Legacy Foundation Facebook page also has references and photos.

THE PROCESS BEGINS: Presentation in the Black Box Theatre, paining the showgirl in the classroom, submitting paintings to the Showgirl Art competition, that becomes the Art and Costume exhibit.
