If you’re a fan of the showgirl (and who isn’t?), then you won’t want to miss the special event being held on President’s Day, Feb. 18. The Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas, located in Primm just 40 minutes south of Las Vegas at the Nevada/California border, is hosting “The Classic Las Vegas – Showgirls, Fashion & Art.” It’s a day-long art exhibit and fashion show dedicated to keeping the magic and the history of the showgirl alive.
The art exhibit features the award-winning paintings of showgirls from the 2007 Las Vegas Showgirl Art Competition, which was created by producer Lou Anne Harrison. Also, the works of professional artist Terry Ritter will be on display. It will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The fashion show will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Models will wear historic MGM showgirl costumes provided by Karen Burn Productions. Burns is known for her “Hello Hollywood Hello” collection, which is filled with hundreds of vintage costumes and pieces. Models will also showcase evening gowns from BCBG and formal menswear from Perry Ellis.
“The Classic Las Vegas – Showgirls, Fashion & Art”will take place in the east corridor of the mall. There is no cost to attend and it’s open to the public.
While you’re there, you can also take time out to do a little shopping. The Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas features over 100 designer outlets including Burberry, BCBG, Banana Republic, Cole Haan, Versace, Anne Klein, Coach and many more. The mall also operates a daily Shopper Shuttle from the Strip, making it easy to access for Las Vegas residents and tourists who may not want to drive.
